Joy in unlocking potential

Over the past year, I’ve found myself getting a lot of joy out of the sessions I’ve had the privilege to lead. I do love the kind of joy that you get on vacation (which is the joy in this photo). However, I thrive on the kind of joy I get when I’m leading a session and someone frantically jots down an “aha!” moment, or gains a new tool that let’s them see their own capability more clearly than they did before.

Much of my work lives in that space. Helping leaders and teams slow down just enough to notice the skills they already possess, the instincts they’ve been ignoring, or the systems that are almost working but need refinement. Often, the breakthroughs aren’t about introducing something entirely new. We all have an idea of what “feedback” or “accountability” should look like and many of us have read tips and tricks on the subject many times before. It doesn’t need to be a session that brings a brand new idea to the table to create that “aha”, but I can see the difference I’m making in helping teams create a shared language, and giving people permission to act with more confidence and ownership.

I’ve worked with teams who are technically strong but hesitant to make decisions without approval. Leaders who care deeply about their people but struggle to deliver feedback with clarity. Organizations with good intentions that haven’t yet translated those intentions into consistent daily behaviors. In each case, the work of unlocking the potential brings me so much joy.

What continues to energize me is seeing how quickly momentum builds once that unlock happens. When expectations are clear, when trust replaces fear teams move faster and with more pride in their work. Culture stops being an abstract concept and starts showing up in real, observable ways.

As we look toward 2026, I know many leaders are asking thoughtful questions about their teams, their culture, and how they want work to feel moving forward. If you find yourself wanting a fresh perspective, a structured way to think through challenges, or simply a sounding board grounded in real-world hospitality and leadership experience, know that this is the space I love working in.

For now, I’m grateful for the conversations, the curiosity, and the shared commitment to making work more fun and rewarding. There’s a lot of potential already on the table. Sometimes it just takes the right aha moment to unlock it and I’m looking forward to all the unlocking in the year ahead.
